This Saturday will be the 3rd annual Ladies Race presented by RP Grafix specifically designed for ladies to come out and have a good time at the track.
All ladies entering must race their “daily driver” vehicles, no racecars will be permitted.
All vehicles must run 14 seconds and slower on the quarter-mile.
Randy Piechocki of RP Grafix came to US 131’s General Manager Jason Peterson three years ago with the Ladies Race idea.
“Randy wanted to give the ladies a chance to compete.
Because most of our racers are men and the ladies are out here each weekend supporting them.
Randy thought it would be a treat to have a race just for them,” stated Peterson.
This race is open to any lady whether she is a veteran or a first time competitor.
Last year’s winner and runner-up had never raced before.
US 131’s own Stephanie Peterson won last year’s event.
“This race is so much fun because everyone has a chance and it doesn’t matter if you have a fast car or not.
Because of the bracket style, a handicap start if you will, we are all on the same playing field,” said Peterson.
A variety of cars will be competing from mustangs to mini-vans.
It doesn’t matter what type of vehicle you have you can race competitively.
Because of the strong sponsor support of this event the winner will receive $400 and a trophy, runner-up $200 and semi-finalists will receive $50 each.
Our sponsors include RP Grafix, Challenger Construction, Cornerstone-Adult Foster Care, E & D's Performance, Monte's Auto Service, Donna’s Nail Salon, Port Shelton Auto, D&B Components, Best Bark and Stone and Connie’s Upholstery is giving the winner a custom jacket.
Time trials will start at 12 noon when the gates open this Saturday, October 11.
The race is scheduled to start at 3 pm.
There is also an open test and tune during this time until 6 pm.
The cost is $25 to enter the Ladies Race and $20 for those wanting to test and tune only.
Gate admission for spectators is $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
Children under six are free.
