Top 5 Most Famous Tracks In The Country
When it comes to auto racing, people love their tracks. They think that every track has its own place in the history of the sports. When it comes to picking the five most famous, we look only at name recognition of the track.
Daytona International Speedway – Home of NASCAR’s season starting event every year. It is the most watched NASCAR race of the entire season.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway – Commonly called “The Brickyard” for its history of having been paved in bricks, both IRL and NASCAR call this track home to some of the most popular races during the season.
Talladega Superspeedway – Located in Talladega, Alabama, Talladega Speedway is home to some of the fastest NASCAR racing around. Talladega is the most dangerous track, with the most fatalities of any track.
Bristol Motor Speedway – Located in Bristol, Tennessee, Bristol Motor Speedway is the most famous of the NASCAR short track raceways. Bristol’s track is just over 1/2 mile per lap.
Charlotte Motor Speedway – Home to two major NASCAR races a year – The Coca-Cola 600 and the All-Star Sprint Race. Charlotte also hosts major IRL events. Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
